Before & After: My Favorite Home Renovations

You might have seen my last post (here) about purchasing a house, and in this one I’ll get into all the updates I’ve done since moving in a year ago!

My entire house, and I mean *entire* house, was a medium gray color when I moved in. I am a sucker for white walls, so I spent a good portion of my free days for about 6 months painting every wall in every room of my house Sherwin Williams “High Reflective White” and I love it! See below for some before and after photos.

Kitchen – Before and After

So the kitchen was very blah when I moved in. Wooden cabinets, gray walls, speckled white/gray tile, but I was pretty broke (I’d just bought a house) and couldn’t spend much on updates.

So, really the only thing I could do to “update” the kitchen was buy paint. I decided on white for the walls and green for the cabinets.

  • Paint color for walls: Sherwin Williams High Reflective White
  • Paint color for cabinets: Sherwin Williams Apricot
  • Wall Art: Target
  • Gold hardware/knobs: Amazon, here
  • Plants: Lowes
  • Rugs: Target

And can we please have a moment for these chairs. I AM OBSESSED. They fit my boho styled kitchen perfectly, and came from Amazon, here.

Cl-office

Yes, you might have noticed in the living room update pictures that I have a cloffice (closet office). Originally I had my computer/office set up in a spare bedroom for the first few months, but I felt so disconnected from the rest of my house with that set up that I found myself hating to spend time at my computer because of it. I then decided moving the computer and “office” area to my living room would be the best move for myself.

I *love* this set up. I can hear the tv behind me, have all the light from the windows filling my room, and feel connected to my house while I’m working.

Plant Wall (Living Room)

I love this part of my house! So while it’s not really a project that I did, I’m still going to showcase it!

Take Away

You don’t have to be a professional contractor to change the look of your home. A few gallons of paint and some time can make a huge difference!
